Quarter 4 should be “all hands to the pump” in respect of meeting targets, and building new plans and budgets for the new year. With half of it already passed, how are you getting on? Would you benefit from some help or guidance?
Bearing mind time is short, here’s a “few” priorities to focus your mind.
- How available is cash? Will it be okay if sales dip or customers take longer to pay over the festive period?
- Have you spoken to your accountant about pre-year-end tax planning?
- Have budgets for 2025 been drafted, giving adequate time to consult with those, such as department leads or sales managers, who will be accountable to it?
- How close to targets will the results for 2024 be? What impact will that have on your short-term and long-term plans, resources and cash flow?
- Have your staff taken their holiday allowance or will they be surprising you with requests for time off, or some form of recompense?
- Have you put aside funds for VAT, Corporation Tax and your own Self-Assessment Tax? Do you have a good estimate of how much these obligations will be?
- Are your bookkeeping ledgers up to date, tidy and fully reconciled so that your accountant can be as cost-effective as possible?
